Bhagwant Mann Vision and Hard Work Deliver Canal Water to Remote Abohar Villages, Farmer Veer Praises Govt’s Commitment

Under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, canal water has reached remote villages of Abohar, which are near the Rajasthan border.

The Punjab government headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made a major step in the development of the irrigation system, as canal water has been extended to the remote villages of the Abohar region, areas near the Rajasthan border. This is a big step towards the resolution of farmers’ water problems, which have been going on for a very long time in this region

Addressing a Long-Pending Demand

Local farmers of these villages had to heavily use groundwater and private water sources for the last twenty years or so, and that was often costly financially and environmentally. Now the canal water supply extension is the reflection of the Mann government’s approach, which is concentrated on fair water distribution and the development of the rural areas. Last mile connectivity was the government’s priority; therefore, they have made sure that agricultural communities, which are the most remote, are not left out.

Farmers Recognise Ground-Level Impact

Local farmer Veer shared his gratitude towards the government’s efforts and said that the delivery of canal water to villages along the border of Rajasthan is the most visible proof of a committed administration. He pointed out that the move will lessen the use of tube wells, decrease the irrigation cost, and increase the crop yield; thus, the farmers will be the ones to gain directly from it.

Strengthening Sustainable Agriculture

The project is in line with the agricultural vision of Bhagwant Mann, which is based on sustainability and farmers as the core. Enhanced canal connectivity is not only a means of increasing agricultural productivity but also a measure of groundwater conservation, which, in turn, guarantees environmental equilibrium in the future. These kinds of projects are the government’s solution to development issues while at the same time maintaining sustainability.
