The operations led to the recovery of 1.4 kg of heroin and 1,594 intoxicant tablets, reinforcing the government’s commitment to cutting off both the supply and distribution networks of illegal narcotics. Officials said these raids were conducted based on prior intelligence inputs, with a focus on high-risk areas known for trafficking activities.

The government has also intensified efforts to rehabilitate drug addicts

According to Punjab Police data, a total of 25,343 drug traffickers have been arrested since the campaign began 162 days ago. The government has also intensified efforts to rehabilitate drug addicts, opening de-addiction and counselling centres to ensure a long-term solution to the problem.

CM Bhagwant Mann, while lauding the police for their relentless work, stressed that the fight is far from over. “We will not rest until every last peddler is behind bars. This is a battle to save our youth and our future,” he said.

Public awareness campaigns, school outreach programmes, and community policing initiatives are also being rolled out alongside enforcement measures to address the root causes of drug abuse. Authorities have urged citizens to report suspicious activities via the state’s dedicated anti-drug helpline.
