Dr Balbir Singh administered the oath of office to newly elected members of the Zila Parishad and Block Samitis in Patiala district, including a notable representation of women. Addressing the gathering, the Health Minister urged the new members to rise above partisan politics and prioritise village development. He highlighted that under the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, these bodies receive 30% of development funds, enabling direct impact on local issues.
“Women who manage households can now play a pivotal role in running villages and shaping policies,” Dr Singh emphasised, aligning with CM Mann’s vision of greater female participation in governance.
