Government schools see a rise in JEE and NEET qualifiers
In 2026, 361 students in Punjab government schools qualified for the JEE Main test, while 64 qualified for JEE Advanced. In addition, 882 government school students qualified NEET-UG. The number of NEET qualifiers has increased from 437 in 2024 to 847 in 2025.
Ordinary students make great achievements
There are many examples of successful students who come from ordinary families in terms of financial conditions. Bhavishya, who is studying in class 12 at School of Eminence Amritsar, scored the 98.182 percentile in JEE Main. The occupation of his father is a mobile repair shop operator and his mother is a tailor.
Self-study gives rise to a successful student
Dilkhush Jha of Bathinda scored the 95.091 percentile in JEE Main. His father is a laborer, and his mother is a housewife with an annual income of about ₹1.2 lakh. He prepared himself through self-study.
Coaching and mentoring aid students.
In Punjab state, academic assistance has been offered under the Punjab Academic Coaching for Excellence scheme. As per news reports in June 2026, residential coaching camps were held in Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, and Mohali for intense preparation and mentoring to nearly 3,000 students.
Infrastructure improvements at Schools of Eminence
Along with education reforms, there is improvement in infrastructure and learning atmosphere in Punjab state. According to the state government, Schools of Eminence and facility expansions in government schools have been developed along with teacher training programs.
