Reiterating his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister assured that, just like the past three years, the state will ensure a hassle-free procurement process, purchasing every single grain of paddy from farmers. He directed officials to guarantee timely payments to farmers, emphasizing that no delays would be tolerated.

Mann also issued a strict warning against any harassment of farmers by officials, making it clear that stringent action would be taken against those found guilty of causing inconvenience during procurement.

Chief Minister further directed that mandis should be fully equipped with adequate facilities

The Chief Minister further directed that mandis should be fully equipped with adequate facilities, including proper arrangements for storage, weighing machines, transportation, and supply of gunny bags. He stressed that farmers should not face any hurdles while bringing their produce to procurement centers.

He also highlighted the importance of using digital payment systems to ensure transparency and reduce chances of corruption. Farmers, he said, should receive their dues directly in their bank accounts within the stipulated time frame.

The meeting also touched upon ensuring cleanliness and basic facilities like drinking water and shelter in procurement yards. Mann instructed district administrations to remain vigilant during the season and resolve farmer grievances on priority.

By taking these proactive measures, the Punjab government aims to protect farmer interests and maintain the state’s reputation as a leading contributor to India’s food security.
