Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Govardhan Puja 2025. Taking to social media, he wished that Lord Shri Krishna continue to shower his blessings upon everyone and bring happiness, prosperity, and harmony into people’s lives.
“On the sacred day of Govardhan Puja, may Lord Krishna bless all with peace, strength, and positivity,” CM Mann conveyed in his message.
Significance of Govardhan Puja
Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakut, is celebrated a day after Diwali and holds deep spiritual meaning. It commemorates the lifting of Govardhan Hill by Lord Krishna, symbolizing the triumph of devotion and humility over arrogance and pride. The day reminds people of the importance of faith, unity, and gratitude towards nature, which sustains all forms of life.
Celebrations Across Punjab
Across Punjab, devotees observed the festival with religious fervour. Temples were adorned with flowers and lights, while people prepared Annakut prasad—a grand offering of food symbolizing abundance and thankfulness. In several towns and villages, Govardhan Parvat replicas made from cow dung and clay were worshipped with prayers and bhajans.
Chief Minister Mann’s message came as citizens celebrated the festival with enthusiasm and devotion, reflecting Punjab’s spirit of cultural harmony and togetherness. He urged people to maintain the sanctity of the environment and take inspiration from Lord Krishna’s teachings to live with compassion and responsibility toward nature.
Message of Harmony and Sustainability
Reiterating his government’s focus on environmental preservation and sustainable development, CM Mann linked the message of Govardhan Puja to today’s ecological needs. He said the festival inspires everyone to respect the balance of nature and contribute to building a clean, green Punjab.
