CM Bhagwant Mann praises Punjab Police for busting major cross-border arms smuggling network linked to Pakistan

In a significant intelligence-led operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police successfully dismantled a major cross-border arms smuggling module operating out of Punjab with links to Pakistan. Acting on credible inputs, the police arrested seven operatives — identified as Shamsher Singh alias Sima, Amandeep Singh alias Bobby, Balwinder Singh alias Kaka, Gurdev Singh, Karanpreet Singh, Harman Singh, and one juvenile, all residents of Amritsar. Authorities also recovered 15 sophisticated pistols, including 9 Glock 9mm pistols and 6 pistols of .30 bore.

According to the DGP, Punjab Police, the arrested accused were in constant contact with a Pakistan-based handler via social media platforms. They were reportedly involved in procuring and distributing illegal weapons across different parts of Punjab. FIRs have been registered at PS Cantonment, Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to uncover the wider network, including both backward and forward linkages of the module.
