Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday showcased the state as the most preferred investment destination and urged the captains of industry to invest in Punjab to give fillip to their business.
Interacting with the eminent industrialists here today, the Chief Minister extended a warm welcome to the distinguished personalities from the industrial sector in the capital city of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. He said that Bengaluru is known as the Information Technology Hub of India and the Silicon Valley of India. Extending an invitation to the entrepreneurs to invest in Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the sacred land is blessed by great Gurus, saints, and martyrs adding that it has a rich cultural heritage.
The Chief Minister further said that bravery, hard work, and an enterprising spirit are embedded in every grain of Punjab’s soil. He said that Punjab has long played a crucial role in defending the nation’s borders as well as ensuring the country’s food security. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for these reasons, Punjab is often called the Food Bowl and Sword Arm of India.
The Chief Minister said that the industrious people of Punjab are known for their dedication and perseverance, making the state’s bond with industry and enterprise exceptionally strong. He said that Punjab is steadily ascending the ladder of industrial growth and investment is being drawn to the state due to industry-friendly policies, transparent governance, and a conducive business environment. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is indeed heartening that Punjab’s atmosphere of harmony, peace, and goodwill has greatly boosted industrial investment.
The Chief Minister said that since March 2022, Punjab has received investment proposals worth Rs 1.23 lakh crore, which will generate employment for around 4.7 lakh youth. He said that sectors such as food processing, textiles, auto components, hand tools, bicycles, IT, and tourism are positioning Punjab as a role model for other states. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that it is also a matter of great pride that Punjab has become home to leading global companies like Nestlé, Claas, Freudenberg, Cargill, Verbio, Danone and others all of which have set up units here.
The Chief Minister said that he was delighted to share that Tata’s second-largest steel plant in India, after Jamshedpur, is coming up in Ludhiana. He said that Ludhiana, known globally as an industrial hub, plays a vital role in the state’s economy and is rightly considered the Commercial Capital of Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab continues to attract investments from developed nations such as Japan, the USA, Germany, the UK, the UAE, Switzerland, France, and Spain.
The Chief Minister said that he firmly believes that this is only the beginning as Punjab is emerging not only as India’s but also the world’s Preferred Investment Destination. He said that the state government has delivered on many of the guarantees given to industrialists within just three and a half years. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to concerted efforts of the state government Punjab now holds a top position in Ease of Doing Business.
The Chief Minister said that the Fast Track Punjab Portal is India’s most advanced single-window system, offering more than 150 business services with the notable advantage of completely eliminating the need for offline applications. He said that under the Punjab Right to Business Act, the state government grants in-principle approval within three days to projects with an investment of up to Rs 125 crore. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that a time limit of 45 days has been set for granting approvals and if approvals are not issued within this period, they are automatically treated as deemed approvals.
The Chief Minister said that assistance to investors is regularly provided through WhatsApp, AI chatbots, and call centers. Likewise, he said that the time period for fire NOC renewals has been extended, and the process for leasehold-to-freehold conversion has been vastly simplified. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government firmly believes that real industrial progress is possible only when the government and industry work shoulder to shoulder.
That is why; the Chief Minister said that investors and entrepreneurs are regarded as key partners in shaping Punjab’s industrial future. He said that the state government has established committees for 24 different industrial sectors, with the goal of drafting targeted strategies and roadmaps for each. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that dedicated and committed officers of invest Punjab are always available to extend every possible support to industrialists.
The Chief Minister further apprised the investors that the sixth Progressive Punjab Investors Summit is being organized in Mohali on 13th, 14th, and 15th March 2026. Inviting all the investors to participate in this important event, he said that the summit will provide a common platform for industrialists, policymakers, and innovative thinkers to exchange ideas and share their visions. Bhagwant Singh Mann urged all the industrialists to actively contribute to formulating industry-friendly policies and share their valuable suggestions.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab holds immense potential for economic and industrial growth but without the support of industrialists, Punjab cannot move forward. He said that with their partnership, the state government will take Punjab to new heights of prosperity and progress. Bhagwant Singh Mann exuded confidence that together, they will soon fulfill the dream of transforming Punjab once again into a vibrant and thriving land ‘Rangla Punjab’.
