Covid 19: Punjab Health Minister Issues Directives Amid Rising Covid-19 Cases in Neighboring States

Punjab’s Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has issued fresh guidelines to government hospitals in view of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases being reported from neighboring states like Haryana. These directives are aimed at strengthening surveillance and preparedness to manage any potential outbreak within Punjab. 

Punjab’s Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has issued instructions to government hospitals following the recent rise in Covid-19 cases in Haryana and other neighboring states. Hospitals have been directed to test all patients exhibiting symptoms of coronavirus and immediately report any positive cases to the health department.

The minister emphasized that contacts of Covid-positive individuals should be identified, quarantined, and necessary precautions followed. He also mentioned that if similar cases increase in Punjab, the government will issue health advisories for travelers coming from abroad to ensure public safety.

Mandatory Testing and Immediate Reporting

All government hospitals have been asked to conduct Covid-19 tests on patients presenting with symptoms. In case of a positive result, health officials must immediately notify the department for timely intervention. This proactive measure is expected to help contain the spread of infection at the initial stages.

Home Quarantine and Contact Tracing Emphasized

Dr. Balbir Singh also highlighted the importance of home quarantine. “Families of infected individuals must be alerted, and they should follow strict quarantine protocols,” he said. He added that government health teams should trace contacts promptly and ensure that essential precautions are being taken.

Possibility of Health Advisory for International Arrivals

While Punjab has not yet reported a major spike, the Health Minister stated that if the trend continues or similar cases appear in Punjab, a health advisory for international travelers arriving in the state may be issued. This would be a preventive step to minimize risks and safeguard public health.

Appeal for Public Cooperation

Dr. Singh urged citizens to remain vigilant, follow Covid-appropriate behavior, and report symptoms without delay. He assured that the Punjab government is fully prepared to manage the situation and that public safety remains the top priority.
