Bhagwant Mann:On Day 108 of the campaign, Punjab Police and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) ramped up the ongoing crackdown against organised crime with hundreds of raids being carried out across Punjab. The coordinated operation targeted sites linked to gangster networks, criminal associates and suspected hideouts in several districts.
Targeting Organised Crime Networks
The raids are part of a broader effort to smash gangster syndicates operating in the state, officials said. Law enforcement groups have carried out intelligence-led operations to trace illegal weapons, extortion and criminal financing linked to gang activity. Such networks can be weakened and prevented from regrouping with sustained pressure, officials say.
Arrests and Weapons Seizure
In recent operations, police arrested several people for questioning and took weapons and other suspicious materials from several locations. Ongoing investigations and also close monitoring of proclaimed offenders and repeat criminal suspects are being carried out.
AGTF Joins Hands with District Police Units
The Anti-Gangster Task Force has been in close coordination with teams of district police to ensure simultaneous raids and quick information sharing. “The joint strategy has increased the efficiency of operations and helped spread surveillance over sensitive areas,” officials said.
Government Stays Strong on Zero Tolerance
The Punjab government has repeatedly said it has a zero-tolerance policy towards organised crime and gang violence. The ongoing crackdown is also part of broader efforts to improve public safety, stem the flow of illegal weapons and dismantle the criminal networks often involved in drug trafficking and extortion.
Bhagwant Mann: Operations Expected to Continue
Bhagwant Mann: Police officials said such raids and targeted searches would continue in the coming days based on intelligence inputs. As the anti-gangster campaign enters its 100th day, authorities say they are not just going after short-term arrests but long-term disruption of criminal networks.
