The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has issued summons to former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi in the case of disproportionate assets. He has been called for questioning at the Mohali headquarters on 12 April.

After the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh in the Congress government, Charanjit Singh Channi was made the Chief Minister of Punjab. He was the CM of Punjab for almost 3 months. In the case of disproportionate assets last month, Punjab Vigilance had also issued a look out notice against Channi.

Allegations of spending government money in private gatherings

After issuing the out notice, Channi was asked by the Vigilance Bureau not to go abroad. On this, Channi was told that he had to go to America to attend Guru Ravidas' program. But if I leave here, people will say that I have run away from here. That's why I canceled going abroad. He also accused the government of trapping him.

Apart from the case of disproportionate assets, Channi was also accused of using government exchequer for his private gatherings. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann himself had spoken about the evidence against Channi in the Assembly.

Speculations about joining BJP

These days, the news of former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi joining BJP in Punjab politics also spread a lot. Many news websites also claimed about this, but after the denial of this by a close friend of Channi, there was a pause in these news. On the other hand, Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa also accused Channi of spreading false news while refusing to join BJP.
