Guru Sahib’s Honour Protected in Punjab Floods; AAP Leaders donate one month’s salary

Punjab floods: AAP MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill safeguards Guru Granth Sahib amid crisis; CM Bhagwant Mann leads relief efforts with MLAs donating one month’s salary.

In the midst of devastating floods in village Abdullapur, Hoshiarpur district, an incident came to light that set an extraordinary example of balance between humanity, faith, and politics. When the waters of the Beas river engulfed the entire village, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Urmur constituency, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, upheld Sikh traditions by respectfully and safely relocating the sacred saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to a secure place. The emotional moment quickly went viral on social media, stirring deep sentiments across Punjab. Before moving the saroop from the Guru’s house with the help of the sangat, Raja Gill performed an ardaas and prayed for the peace and well-being of the community. This incident became a living testimony that even in the most difficult circumstances of a natural disaster, religious sanctity and the respect of Guru Sahib cannot be compromised. At the same time, AAP MLAs conveyed a powerful message — that protecting both faith and the people’s lives are their shared responsibility.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government accelerated relief and rescue operations, proving that the government stands firmly with every Punjabi in this hour of crisis. Cabinet Ministers and officials have been continuously visiting flood-affected regions, while the administrative machinery is working round the clock on relief efforts. Notably, the Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, and all Aam Aadmi Party MLAs have pledged to donate their one month’s salary towards flood relief. This decision is a true reflection of their emotional connection with the people and their spirit of service.

At a time when fields were submerged and homes filled with water, AAP representatives demonstrated that their priority was not only to save people’s lives but also to uphold religious traditions. This strengthened the faith of Punjab’s Sikh sangat and the general public that their government, in difficult times, is committed not only to provide help but also to protect and honor their spiritual and cultural values.

This incident and this decision stand as a symbol that politics is not merely limited to power — when combined with humanity and faith, it establishes the true essence of Rajdharma. Chief Minister Mann and his team have shown that in the veins of the Punjab Government run service, faith, and people’s rights together. The larger message now resonating across Punjab is clear: in times of crisis, it is the unity of the government and the sangat that becomes the real strength of society.
