A long-pending demand of over three decades has finally been fulfilled for Jalandhar. The Local Government Department has approved 1,196 new recruitments to strengthen the city’s sanitation and civic infrastructure. Despite a growing population and expanding municipal limits, the Municipal Corporation had been functioning with severe human resource shortages for years.
Under the new approval, vacant posts across key categories—including sanitation workers, sewer men, gardeners, and fitter-coolies—will be filled, significantly enhancing the corporation’s ground workforce.
Bhagwant Mann Key Leadership Played Crucial Role
Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli played a pivotal and continuous role in pushing this process forward. Prioritizing the issue, he held multiple meetings in Chandigarh, ensured documentation, and maintained consistent follow-up. Mayor Vaneet Dhir, Sanitation Union Punjab Chairman Chandan Grewal, and Municipal Commissioner Sadeep Rishi also contributed actively throughout the administrative process, leading to official approval by Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh.
A Turning Point for Jalandhar’s Civic System
Mayor Vaneet Dhir called the decision “much-needed and transformative” for Jalandhar, acknowledging Nitin Kohli’s persistent efforts as a key reason behind the approval. He said the result will soon be visible in the form of cleaner streets, improved waste management, and strengthened services across wards, markets, and residential areas.
Nitin Kohli: “This Is the Beginning of a Cleaner, Modern Jalandhar”
Nitin Kohli stated that his mission is to build a clean, efficient, and modern Jalandhar. The addition of 1,196 employees will accelerate sanitation operations, improve sewage management, and significantly enhance the city’s overall appearance.
He credited Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the AAP government’s progressive vision for making this historic approval possible. Kohli added that the government continues to prioritize public welfare and city development, and this recruitment drive reflects that commitment.
A Historic Milestone for the City
According to Kohli, this step marks the beginning of a major transformation. With improved manpower, Jalandhar is poised to become a cleaner, healthier, and better-managed city, with visible impact expected in the coming months.
He said that such people-centric decisions prove why the AAP government is considered among Punjab’s most dedicated administrations, consistently working to address citizens’ needs and enhance urban infrastructure.
