The impact of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s investment-friendly policies is now clearly visible. Punjab is rapidly becoming a new hub for industry and employment. Over the last two and a half years, the state has attracted investments worth ₹86,541 crore, generating over 4 lakh jobs. Specifically, the textile and apparel sector has seen a significant investment of ₹5,754 crore, showcasing Punjab’s growing strength. The most prominent example of this growth is Sanathan Polycot Private Limited’s ₹1,600 crore Technical Textile Hub in Wazirabad, Fatehgarh Sahib. This massive factory is steering Punjab towards reclaiming its title as the ‘Manchester of India’ and opening new avenues of employment for thousands of youngsters.

The hub, a subsidiary of Sanathan Textiles Limited, is being built on 80 acres of land. It will manufacture specialized yarns such as Partially Oriented Yarn (POY), Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY), and Polyester Granules, which are used in technical textiles for applications in automobiles, hospitals, agriculture, road construction, and safety equipment. The first phase of the hub, which commenced in August 2025, currently has a production capacity of 350 tons per day. This is expected to reach 700 tons per day within the next three to four months. The facility is slated to be fully operational by March 2026, with a second phase set for completion in 2027-28, bringing the company’s total annual production capacity to 6 lakh tons. The hub’s strategic location allows for quick supply to major markets like Delhi, Ludhiana, and Panipat, facilitated by easy access to raw materials such as PTA and MEG. Paresh Dattani, Chairman of Sanathan Textiles, credited the Punjab government’s transparent approval system, swift decision-making, and industry-friendly environment for turning their vision into reality. The factory is also committed to environmental sustainability, utilizing low-power consumption and low-pollution machinery. Furthermore, it strengthens the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) mission by producing goods that will meet domestic needs and boost exports.

This ₹1,600 crore factory, which is part of a larger ₹1,850 crore expansion, will generate thousands of jobs for technicians, machine operators, transport workers, and small business operators. This influx of employment will bring economic prosperity to Fatehgarh Sahib and its surrounding towns and villages, bolstering local shops, transport, and ancillary small industries. Industry Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the Sanathan Polycot hub is a direct result of Punjab’s investment-friendly policies and rapid decision-making processes. With approximately 3.5 lakh Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) active in the state, the government’s Invest Punjab/Fast Track Portal offers online services and simplified approval procedures. Under the policy, initial approvals are decided upon within 3 days for certain categories, with a maximum limit of 45 working days for all other necessary clearances. A “deemed approval” mechanism is in place if decisions are not made within the specified timeframe, making it significantly easier and faster to start new businesses. Small enterprises with investments up to ₹125 crore are receiving approvals without delays.

The Sanathan hub is not an isolated case. Shiva Texfabs in Ludhiana has expanded its factory with an investment of ₹815 crore. Major textile players like Vardhman Textiles and Monte Carlo are also active in Punjab. Under the Central Government’s PM MITRA scheme, a massive 1,000-acre Textile Park is being established in Fatehgarh Sahib. This ₹4,445 crore project is expected to create millions of jobs by 2025-26. The existing Integrated Textile Park in Ludhiana further strengthens Punjab’s position. Collectively, these initiatives are positioning Punjab to tap into the global textile market, projected to reach $350 billion by 2030. Punjab’s textile industry is poised to meet not only local but also global demand, thereby fortifying the state’s economy.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government has streamlined procedures for investors. The single-window system ensures that all approvals are granted within a maximum of 45 working days. Registration can be done through a self-declaration affidavit, and 22 special committees, including 3 dedicated to the textile sector (Yarn/Weaving, Fabric, and Dyeing), collaborate with businesses to formulate policies. The government is offering incentives such as 100% SGST refund, interest subvention, stamp duty exemption, and priority land allotment. Central government support includes the PLI scheme (worth ₹10,683 crore), machinery subsidies (ATUFS), and Common Facility Centres (CFCs). Additionally, the PM MITRA park receives an extra ₹300 crore per park. Punjab’s peaceful environment, industrious workforce, excellent road and rail connectivity, and proximity to airports make it an ideal business destination.

The story of Punjab’s Green Revolution is now evolving into an industrial revolution. Sanathan Textiles made a mark in the stock market with a ₹550 crore IPO in 2024 and reported a turnover of ₹4,077 crore in 2024. Companies from countries like Germany and Japan are also looking towards Punjab. Industry Minister Harpal Singh Cheema emphasized that this is not just an investment in industry, but an investment in the future of Punjab’s youth. “We are committed to providing every Punjabi with employment, dignity, and prosperity. Projects like Sanathan are making Punjab a leader in the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ journey,” he added. Punjab is now setting its sights on attracting ₹1.25 lakh crore in investments. The Sanathan hub and other projects will not only produce textiles but also weave together the dreams of every Punjabi, creating a strong and secure future. This is not just a factory story; it is a narrative of economic security and pride for every Punjabi family.
