The Punjab government has announced the celebration of road safety week today, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar informed about this and said that various activities will be conducted by the traffic department in collaboration with social service organizations.

Inaugurating the Road Safety Week program from January 11 to 17, 2023 as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Minister Bhullar said that large vehicles parked on the roads causing accidents during the foggy season should be challaned.

He said that a campaign will be launched by the traffic police against bicycle/two-wheeler rallies, installation of reflectors, health check-up of drivers, over-speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Along with this, transport, state transport commissioner and health department will jointly organize a health and eye examination camp for truck operators and traffic employees.

The Punjab Mandi Board and the Public Works Department (PWD) will launch a cleaning campaign around the roads and the Local Government Department will install street lights and cameras at high-accident junctions within the municipal limits.

Similarly, school, higher and technical education departments will sensitize the students of schools and colleges about reducing road accidents and students to use public transport service instead of private vehicles for commuting.

Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar directed the officials of the concerned departments to ensure smooth management of various activities and full participation of people during the Road Safety Week.
