The Mann Government has secured yet another major achievement in Punjab’s journey of development. As a result of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s visionary approach and investment-friendly policies, multinational IT company Infosys Limited has decided to expand its operations in Mohali. The company will invest nearly ₹300 crore here. This investment will not only strengthen Punjab’s economy but also open new avenues of employment for the youth. It is estimated that the project will create 2,500 direct jobs and 210 indirect jobs. This step is a crucial milestone in placing Punjab among the leading states in the fields of industry and technology across the country.

Cabinet Minister Mr. Sanjeev Arora shared details of this achievement, noting that Infosys Limited has been operating in Mohali since 2017, where nearly 900 employees are currently working. The company is now expanding its scope of operations to provide more opportunities for local youth and professionals. He emphasized that this investment is proof of the Punjab Government’s commitment to developing the state as an attractive destination for industries. By prioritizing local talent, not only will employment increase, but sustainable and balanced development will also be promoted.

He further informed that in the first phase, Infosys will expand by constructing modern offices and supporting buildings across 300,000 square feet. The highlight of this construction will be its eco-friendly design, earning it the LEED Platinum certification, the highest standard for green buildings. The construction will begin on the auspicious occasion of November 5, Gurpurab, and is expected to be completed within three years after obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals. This is not just about constructing buildings but marks a historic step towards green development and modern technological infrastructure in Punjab.

In the second phase, the company will further expand across 480,000 square feet. This phase has an estimated timeline of five years and will only commence after the successful completion of the first phase and after all legal and regulatory approvals are granted. This phased development will ensure that projects are executed in an orderly, transparent, and long-term beneficial manner. Once both phases are completed, Mohali will emerge as a new hub for the IT and service sector, not only for Punjab but for the entire northern region of India.

Infosys Limited expressed its gratitude to the Punjab Government, Invest Punjab, and GMADA for their support in bringing this historic project to the state. The company assured that with the government’s cooperation, the proposed development will be completed on time. Through this project, Punjab’s youth will gain opportunities to compete at the global level. This initiative will serve as a milestone in further strengthening Punjab’s position in technology and industry.

At the press conference, Mr. Amit Dhaka (IAS), CEO of Invest Punjab, Mrs. Seema Bansal, Vice Chairperson of Punjab Development Council, Mr. Amol Ramesh Kulkarni, Regional Head (Infrastructure), Infosys, and Dr. Sameer Goyal, Head of Branch Development Centre, Infosys, were present. Their presence symbolizes the Punjab Government’s priority of fostering partnerships with industries and investors. This is not merely an investment announcement, but solid evidence of Punjab’s transformation into a self-reliant, progressive state full of opportunities for its youth. The Mann Government’s achievement marks another significant milestone towards building a truly ‘Rangla Punjab’.
