In a major intelligence-led operation, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Mohali, has dismantled a key module linked to Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda. The Punjab Police arrested three individuals involved in facilitating logistics, safe houses, and coordination for the group's activities, officials said.
Key Arrests and Their Roles
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi – A resident of Nanded, Maharashtra, and co-accused in multiple criminal cases in the state. He played a critical role in facilitating logistics, safe houses, and coordination for the shooters involved in the Nanded murder (February 10, 2025), which was allegedly masterminded by Rinda from across the border.
Shubham Khelbude – A resident of Bandghat, Wajirabad, Nanded, Maharashtra, who was also involved in the operation.
Gurdeep Singh alias Deepa – A resident of Raipur, PS Nurpur Bedi, District Ropar, Punjab, who provided shelter and logistical support to the accused.
Nexus with Jailed Gangster and Pakistan's ISI
The investigation has also revealed the role of jailed gangster Dilpreet alias Baba, an old associate of Rinda, who was responsible for arranging safe shelters for the accused in Punjab. Officials stated that the terror module was operating under the direct backing of Pakistan’s ISI, with an extensive network spanning multiple states.
Weapons Seized and Legal Action
During the operation, the police recovered:
One .32 bore pistol with 8 live cartridges
One 12-bore pump-action gun with 15 live cartridges
A case has been registered at PS SSOC, Mohali, and further investigations are underway to trace other members of the syndicate.
Punjab Police’s Commitment to National Security
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) emphasized that this crackdown deals a significant blow to an organized terror and crime syndicate operating across India. “The Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling such inter-state terror networks and ensuring national security,” he added.
Authorities continue their probe to uncover additional links and prevent further terror-related activities in the region.
