In a significant breakthrough against transnational terrorism, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that a most-wanted terrorist, Harpreet Singh alias Happy Phasia, has been arrested in the United States based on critical intelligence provided by the Punjab Police. The arrest marks a key success in the state’s ongoing crackdown on extremist networks operating beyond Indian borders.

Crucial Intelligence by Punjab Police

According to an official update shared by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab unit, the arrest was the result of strategic input provided by Punjab Police, which worked closely with international agencies. The government emphasized that this operation once again proves the strength and credibility of Punjab’s law enforcement apparatus.

"Punjab Police has pulled the state out of dark times before, and now again, with the cooperation of agencies across the seven seas, it has succeeded in getting a wanted terrorist arrested,” the statement read.

Political Jibe at Opposition

AAP Punjab did not shy away from criticizing opposition leaders, particularly Congress’s Pratap Bajwa, who had previously referred to the Punjab Police as "incompetent".

AAP’s Punjab President Aman Arora questioned Bajwa’s stance, stating:

"Where are those who called Punjab Police ‘nikammi’? They must answer now. The same force they criticized has proven its mettle on the global stage."

The party also accused opposition figures of attempting to instill fear among Punjabis in the name of terrorism, despite the state police’s consistent track record of maintaining peace and security.

No Leniency for Peace Disruptors

The Punjab Government reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward those attempting to destabilize the state. “Anyone who dares to disturb the peace of Punjab will not be spared—whether they are within our borders or overseas,” the statement asserted.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reiterated that the state remains committed to safeguarding the communal harmony and brotherhood of Punjab, adding that international cooperation will continue to be harnessed to eliminate any threat to peace.

Background on Harpreet Singh alias Happy Phasia

Happy Phasia has been associated with organized criminal and extremist activities and was flagged in multiple cases involving arms smuggling and conspiracy. His arrest in the United States is expected to open doors for further investigations into cross-border terror links, funding channels, and sleeper networks.

As diplomatic procedures for extradition begin, Punjab Police and the central government are expected to collaborate closely to ensure that justice is served.
