Manipur Violence: Punjabi Youth Rescued From Manipur

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that a youth from Punjab has been rescued from the violence-hit state of Manipur. Violent clashes broke out in Manipur after the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized in 10 hill districts on May 3, in protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, in which at least 54 people died. The Chief Minister said that the youth of Punjab, Rahul Kumar, has been safely evacuated and will reach home soon.

Government issued helpline numbers

The Hon’ble Government has issued some helpline numbers for the safe return of the people of Punjab stranded in Manipur. In a release issued, the government has said that any person stranded in Manipur or any member of their family can contact the state government on helpline number 9417936222 or e-mail sahotramanjeet@gmail.com for any kind of assistance.

Punjab government is concerned about the youth
Bhagwant Mann has said that the state government is with the families of the youth stranded in Manipur in this difficult situation. He has said that in such a situation it is the duty of the government to help the families. He also urged the Central Government to ensure the safe evacuation of the residents of Punjab from the State of Manipur. He hoped that the Center would take necessary steps to help all those stranded in the violence-hit state.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is also working for the safe return home of the youth and students of his state. He gave this information by tweeting on Monday and Tuesday. Be informed that apart from Punjab and Haryana, students from many other states are also stranded in Manipur.
