Dussehra, a festival symbolizing the victory of good over evil, has brought a transformative change this year for the city of Sunam. On this auspicious occasion, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has presented the people of Sunam with a gift that will completely change their lives. The inauguration of this ₹15.22 crore clean water supply project has doubled the festive joy, as it promises a permanent solution to the decades-old drinking water problem in the region.
Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, while inaugurating this ambitious project today, described it as an important part of the Mann Government’s vision—focused on delivering basic amenities to every citizen and making their lives easier. Under this project, a 34-kilometer-long new pipeline will be laid across the streets and neighborhoods of Sunam, ensuring that 1,472 households in the city will now receive clean and safe drinking water directly through taps. Additionally, a massive 2-lakh liter capacity water tank will also be constructed to ensure a regular and robust water supply.
For families who until now had to fetch water from faraway places or buy it at high prices, this facility is nothing short of a blessing. Contaminated water often caused illnesses in the past, but now children and the elderly will finally be free from such hardships.
On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora made it clear that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is not one that only makes promises—it is a government that fulfills them. He emphasized that Sunam’s water supply project reflects the Mann Government’s vision, where the top priority is delivering essential facilities to every household and providing permanent solutions to people’s problems. This initiative stands as a living example of Mann’s guarantees being delivered on the ground.
Local residents also wholeheartedly welcomed the launch of this project on the auspicious day of Dussehra. They said the government’s gift has brought new hope into their lives. Now, Sunam will no longer be known for its water problems but for development and progress. The Mann Government has once again proven that its aim is not just to make electoral promises, but to win the people’s trust and give Punjab a new direction. Sunam’s water supply project is a symbol of how honest governance can truly transform people’s lives.
