(“On the holy day of Yaum-e-Ashura in the sacred month of Muharram, I bow in reverence to all the martyrs who laid down their lives to protect their faith.”)

Symbol of Courage and Sacrifice

Ashura marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD. The day is observed with mourning and processions by the Muslim community, particularly by Shia Muslims, as a symbol of resistance against injustice and tyranny.

Punjab Government’s Message of Communal Harmony

Bhagwant Mann’s tribute reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to interfaith respect, unity, and peace. His message resonates with the values of communal harmony and shared cultural heritage across the diverse population of the state.

As thousands in Punjab and across the world participate in Ashura processions and events, Mann's tribute serves as a reminder of the eternal message of sacrifice, truth, and resilience.

The Chief Minister's message resonated across religious and cultural communities, acknowledging the deep spiritual and historical significance of the day. Ashura is not just a day of religious importance for Muslims but also a universal symbol of resistance against tyranny, injustice, and falsehood.
