The Punjab Cabinet has approved several important decisions related to agriculture, healthcare and administrative reforms during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, with a focus on development and public welfare.
A major decision concerns preparations for the upcoming 2026-27 paddy procurement season. The Cabinet approved the Custom Milling Policy, Transportation Policy and Labour and Cartage Policy to facilitate the smooth procurement and lifting of paddy from mandis across the state.
The government said the policies are aimed at ensuring that farmers do not face unnecessary difficulties during the procurement process. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said his government is committed to ensuring the lifting of every grain brought by farmers to the state’s agricultural markets.
Healthcare Infrastructure to Get Boost: Bhagwant Mann
The Cabinet also approved measures to strengthen healthcare facilities in Punjab. According to the Chief Minister, new posts will be created and existing posts restored at hospitals in Chamkaur Sahib, Malerkotla and Dhuri.
The decisions are intended to improve staffing levels at these healthcare institutions and help provide better medical services to people in the respective areas.
In another healthcare-related decision, the Cabinet gave approval to fill 80 vacant posts of Dental Medical Officers. The recruitment is expected to strengthen dental healthcare services and improve access to treatment for the general public.
Changes Approved in PPSC Service Rules
The Punjab Cabinet also approved important amendments to the service rules of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).
The changes are part of the government’s administrative measures and are expected to bring updates to the existing service framework of the commission.
