Statewide Structural Safety Audits of Government Buildings, Bridges
As part of the directive, officials have been asked to undertake safety inspections of infrastructure under the Public Works Department. The exercise is intended to identify structural concerns and ensure that public facilities remain safe for use.
Harbhajan Singh ETO also made it clear that government buildings declared unsafe must not be used under any circumstances until the required corrective measures are completed.
Such buildings will only be permitted to reopen after the necessary repair and improvement work has been carried out and the structures have been formally declared safe again.
The directive underlines the government’s focus on preventive maintenance and regular assessment of public infrastructure. Safety inspections of buildings and structures are expected to help authorities identify vulnerabilities and take corrective action in a timely manner.
The Punjab government said the broader objective is to ensure that public infrastructure is adequately maintained and that people have access to safe government facilities across the state.
