Punjab CEO Sibin C Reviews Election Preparedness Amid Heatwave Concerns

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C conducted an election review meeting with officials from across the state, emphasizing the need to address the heatwave expected on polling day. He instructed officers to ensure adequate facilities, such as hydration stations and shaded areas, at all polling stations to accommodate voters in their respective districts.

Additionally, Sibin C directed the deployment of flying squads and excise teams and the establishment of border check posts to prevent the inflow of illicit liquor, cash, drugs, arms, and other prohibited items across Punjab. These measures are part of the state’s broader efforts to ensure a fair and secure election process.

Election Commission’s Initiatives in Kanpur Boost Voter Turnout

The Election Commission’s efforts in Kanpur successfully increased the voting percentage to 52.90%. Among the key candidates were Ramesh Awasthi and Alok Mishra. Notable figures such as BJP MLA Surendra Maithani and Mayor Pramila Pandey participated actively in the democratic process, contributing to the higher turnout.

Three Atlanta Police Officers Injured in Shooting Incident

In a separate incident, three Atlanta police officers were hospitalized with gunshot wounds following an altercation with a suspect armed with a handgun and a knife. The confrontation resulted in the suspect’s death. The incident is under investigation as authorities work to gather more details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
