Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that an important bill has been introduced in the state Assembly to curb alleged arbitrary practices by private schools and provide relief to parents of nearly 32 lakh children.

Mann said education should not become a means of profiteering and stressed that his government is committed to protecting the interests of students and their families.
Offer Relief to Parents
Under the proposed measures, private schools would not be allowed to change school uniforms for three years. Schools would also be prohibited from forcing parents to purchase uniforms or other educational items from a particular shop, according to the Chief Minister.
The proposed legislation is aimed at giving parents greater freedom in purchasing school-related items while preventing practices that could place an additional financial burden on families.
Highlighting the state’s education sector, Mann claimed that Punjab has emerged as a leading state in education across the country. He pointed to the success of 882 students from government schools in clearing the NEET examination as an example of the progress being made in the state’s public education system.
The Chief Minister said the Punjab government remains committed to improving educational opportunities and securing a brighter future for children across the state.
The proposed bill, if enacted, could bring significant changes to the way private schools regulate uniforms and purchasing requirements, while offering greater protection to parents and students.
