Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann put his government’s welfare record before residents during an outreach programme in Dhuri constituency, which he represents in the Punjab Assembly. Addressing the gathering, he cited 70,685 government jobs and free healthcare as the main achievements of his administration.
DON'T MISS
70,685 Jobs on Merit
Mann said the government had provided 70,685 jobs to the state’s youth. He has repeatedly described the recruitment drive as merit-based and free of bribery or favouritism. The figure has risen steadily over time. Earlier this year, he cited 63,943 jobs at a similar event, according to Punjab Kesari.
Free Healthcare for Residents
Healthcare was the second major theme. The government has promoted its free treatment scheme, which offers health insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh so that money does not stand in the way of treatment. Mann has also pointed to the Aam Aadmi Clinics, with 881 now operating across the state, offering free consultations and medicines.
Welfare Schemes in Focus
Alongside jobs and health, the CM has regularly listed other welfare measures as part of his government’s record. These include free electricity for about 90 percent of households since July 2022, free bus travel for women, and the creation of Schools of Eminence. He has argued that these measures show the government’s priority is ordinary citizens.
Looking Ahead
The CM assured residents that development work and public welfare schemes would continue at pace. Dhuri residents are expected to watch closely how the promises made translate into local projects.
