Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Hails Punjab Police as DGP Confirms Major Narco-Terror Network Bust in Amritsar

Punjab Police: In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, under the leadership of Punjab DGP, has busted a cross-border arms and narco-hawala network operating from Pakistan into Punjab. The operation highlights the state’s intensified crackdown on narco-terror networks, a priority under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government.

The Operation

According to officials, three operatives were apprehended during the intelligence-led operation. The accused, identified as Harpreet Singh and Gurpal Singh, had earlier traveled to Malaysia and established links with Pakistani smugglers. On their disclosure, police recovered 2.02 kg of heroin and two .30 bore pistols.

Another accused, Ranjodh Singh, was also arrested with two additional pistols (including one Glock 9mm) and ₹3.5 lakh drug money, which was intended to be routed via hawala channels.

Case and Investigation

A case has been registered at PS Gate Hakiman, and further investigation is underway to expose the entire nexus and identify more operatives linked with the cross-border smuggling syndicate.

The Punjab Police reiterated its strong commitment to dismantling narco-terror and organised crime networks, ensuring the safety and security of the border state. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has consistently emphasised a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and cross-border criminal activity, urging law enforcement agencies to intensify operations.
