Punjab Police: In a major breakthrough against cross-border crime, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, in an intelligence-led operation, has dismantled an organised arms and hawala network. The police arrested three operatives and recovered 10 sophisticated weapons, including three PX5 .30 Bore pistols, three Glock 9MM pistols, one Beretta 9MM pistol, three .30 Bore pistols, along with ₹2.5 lakh in hawala money.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals were in direct contact with handlers based in Pakistan through social media channels. The accused were allegedly part of a conspiracy to procure and circulate illegal weapons with the intent of disturbing peace and harmony in Punjab. An FIR has been registered at PS Gate Hakima, Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to expose the entire network and its cross-border linkages.

Officials added that this operation is part of a larger crackdown against arms smuggling and hawala channels that fund anti-national activities. The recovery of advanced weapons points to a deep-rooted nexus between local operatives and foreign handlers, making the case a high priority for Punjab Police and central agencies.
The Punjab government has assured citizens that strict surveillance and proactive intelligence-sharing will remain in place to prevent such networks from regrouping. The action highlights the state’s determination to protect law-abiding citizens and maintain peace and security across the region.
