Mann highlighted Rajguru’s unwavering patriotism and his crucial role in the fight for India’s freedom. Alongside Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev Thapar, Rajguru became a symbol of youth-led resistance against colonial oppression. His supreme sacrifice at a young age immortalized him in the history of India’s independence struggle.
“Shaheed Rajguru Ji’s bravery, dedication, and selfless spirit will forever remain a source of inspiration for all of us,” Mann said, urging today’s youth to draw lessons of courage, determination, and love for the nation from his life.
Rajguru’s Legacy in India’s Freedom Struggle
Born in 1908 in Maharashtra, Shivaram Rajguru joined hands with Bhagat Singh and other revolutionaries in the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). He was actively involved in the revolutionary activities against the British, most notably in the Lahore Conspiracy Case, where he, along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev, avenged the death of nationalist leader Lala Lajpat Rai.
The trio was arrested and later executed by the British on 23 March 1931, a day remembered in history as Shaheed Diwas (Martyrs’ Day). Rajguru’s sacrifice, though often overshadowed by Bhagat Singh’s larger-than-life persona, remains an integral chapter of India’s freedom movement.
