He instructed officials to ensure timely completion of sanitation and repair works, highlighting that cleanliness and safety in public spaces are critical to preventing the spread of waterborne diseases.

Mann urged civic officials to show a proactive and compassionate approach in assisting citizens during this challenging time. He reminded them that the flood crisis is not just about infrastructure but also about supporting families who have lost homes, crops, or livelihoods. “Our government stands firmly with the people in their time of need. Every effort must be made to bring relief and improve the quality of life of those affected,” he said.

The CM emphasized that coordination between different departments—municipal bodies, health services, and disaster management authorities—was essential for effective relief. He also called upon officers to maintain transparent communication with residents, assuring them that their concerns will be addressed promptly.

Officials were directed to submit daily progress reports on relief and rehabilitation activities, ensuring accountability and faster decision-making. The government also plans to allocate additional resources where needed to speed up the recovery process.

Residents of flood-hit towns have welcomed the government’s quick intervention but stressed that long-term flood management plans are equally necessary. Experts point out that Punjab must invest in modern drainage systems, river embankment strengthening, and urban planning reforms to reduce the risk of similar disasters in the future.

With the special assembly session on floods scheduled later this week, the Chief Minister is expected to table further measures aimed at rehabilitation, farmer compensation, and infrastructure rebuilding.
