Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of engaging in extensive hate speech across the country. He voiced his concerns, stating that BJP’s actions are reminiscent of a dictatorial regime, drawing parallels with the leadership style of Vladimir Putin. Mann’s remarks come amidst escalating tensions between his party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the BJP.

BJP Accused of Disrupting Public Services

Mann highlighted various grievances against the BJP, alleging that they have deliberately obstructed essential public services in Punjab. He pointed out that funds for the National Health Mission intended for AAP’s Mohalla clinics have been halted by the BJP. Additionally, Mann expressed outrage over the BJP’s decision to halt Punjab’s tableau for Republic Day celebrations, asserting that it reflects a disregard for Punjab’s representation.

Allegations Against BJP’s Political Agenda

Further, Mann accused the BJP of attempting to suppress opposition voices in the upcoming elections. He claimed that the BJP aims to restrict opposition leaders’ ability to campaign freely, thereby undermining the democratic process. Mann even went as far as suggesting that if it were up to the BJP, they would erase Punjab’s name from the National Anthem.

Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest Sparks Controversy

The backdrop of Mann’s statements is the recent arrest of Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Kejriwal was apprehended in connection with an excise policy case after evading multiple summons from the central agency. The arrest followed the Delhi High Court’s decision to deny interim protection to Kejriwal, leading to a swift action by the ED.
