Punjab's vibrant sports culture received another boost with the conclusion of the state-level equestrian competitions under Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2024, held at Forest Hill, Village Karoran. This event, organized to promote athletic talent in Punjab, was graced by Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, accompanied by MLA Anmol Gagan Mann and senior AAP leader Gurpreet Singh GP.
Reviving Punjab’s Sports Glory
Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond emphasized that under Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, the state is committed to restoring its legacy as a hub for sports excellence. Recognizing the transformative power of sports, he stated, “Our government is providing not only financial aid for international-level preparation but also prestigious civil and administrative positions for medalists.” This comprehensive support has positioned Punjab as a leader in fostering athletic talent.
A Landmark for Equestrian Sports
Equestrian events, introduced as part of the Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan last year, gained momentum with the addition of a “cross-country” event this year—a first at the state level. Professional riders from reputed institutions like PPS Nabha, YPS, and Budha Dal showcased their skills, marking a new era for horse-riding sports in Punjab.
The competitions included diverse categories such as Under-14, Under-17, Under-21, and Open, ensuring inclusivity and broad participation. Winners across events, including Suharsh, Sandeep Singh, and Rajpal Singh, demonstrated Punjab's immense talent pool.
AAP’s Vision for Youth Empowerment
MLA Anmol Gagan Mann highlighted that CM Bhagwant Mann’s government is deeply focused on engaging the youth through sports, steering them away from negative influences like drugs. “Sports teach discipline and build character, making them pivotal for a healthier, stronger Punjab,” she said.
Community and Gratitude
National equestrian players Deepinder Singh and Harmandeep Singh Khaira extended their gratitude to Forest Hill's owner for providing the venue. AAP leader Gurpreet Singh GP added that the presence of Minister Sond elevated the morale of both players and organizers.
As Punjab forges ahead in nurturing its athletic spirit, the success of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan reflects a promising future for the state's youth and its sporting ambitions.
