In a significant crackdown against cross-border crime, the Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, successfully busted a weapon smuggling module linked to Pakistan. Acting on a specific tip-off, the Fazilka Police arrested two persons — Surinder Singh and Gurpreet — involved in smuggling foreign-made pistols and magazines into Punjab.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s Police Take Action
The accused were attempting to deliver these arms to ground operatives of criminal gangs in Punjab
During the operation, police recovered 5 foreign-made pistols (.30 bore) and 9 magazines. Preliminary investigations revealed that the weapons were being sourced from Pakistan through a foreign-based entity. The accused were attempting to deliver these arms to ground operatives of criminal gangs in Punjab, as directed by their foreign handlers.
This operation is part of a broader strategy by the Punjab Police and the state government to clamp down on cross-border smuggling and organized crime. Multiple special operations and intelligence-led actions have been intensified across border districts to prevent the illegal entry of arms and narcotics into the state.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has consistently emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order and ensuring Punjab’s security. He stated that “such actions reflect the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards any anti-national activities and efforts to strengthen internal security.”
An FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at PS Sadar, Fazilka. The investigation is ongoing to dismantle the entire network, including its backward and forward linkages.
The Punjab Police, in coordination with CM Bhagwant Mann’s administration, remain resolute in combating cross-border crime and organized smuggling networks to ensure the safety and security of Punjab’s citizens.
This decisive action sends a strong message that the state will not tolerate any attempts to destabilize peace and law and order.
