The government will pay 119 percent dearness allowance to the employees of the Punjab government within three months from July 1, 2015. In this regard, the Additional Advocate General of Punjab has given information by filing an affidavit in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. It has been accepted by the Advocate General of the State before the Division Bench of Justice Anil Kshetrapal that the employees are entitled to the benefits.
No discrimination between employees
Additional Advocate General RK Kapoor has given an affidavit to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in this regard that the employees will be treated equally by the government without any discrimination. Justice Anil Kshetrapal said that in view of the facts, there is no need to pass further orders in the matter. The matter was brought to the notice of Justice Kshetrapal after Kuljit Singh and other employees approached the court seeking release of the benefits.
The petitioners, inter alia, sought release of allowance on the basis of parity with employees of similar status in the petition. Justice Anil Kshetrapal said that not only the petitioners but all other similarly situated employees shall be provided the benefits within a period of three months as there cannot be discrimination among the employees.
The petitioners made this demand
Seeking issue of directions to the State and other respondents to grant the benefit, the petitioners, through advocate Amrik Singh, claimed that the benefit was granted to similarly situated employees in another petition. The order comes just four days after Justice Kshetrapal issued notice of motion to the state and other respondents before directing them to list the matter for final disposal in the “urgent list”. Before disposing of the matter, Justice Kshetrapal insisted that in view of the facts, there was no need to pass further orders in the matter.
