Health Department and Guru Nanak Dev Hospital on High Alert

According to officials, emergency medicines have been stocked in Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Government TB Hospital, and Government ENT Hospital, while all senior medical officers across the district have been directed to remain on alert. Three daily medical monitoring shifts—morning, afternoon, and evening—are being led by doctors to provide uninterrupted care to patients. Additionally, 15 Rapid Response Teams have been constituted to react quickly to any crisis in flood-affected zones.

30 Medical Teams Formed to Tackle Emergency

Civil Surgeon Dr. Kirandeep Kaur confirmed that around 80 government ambulances are already on standby, ready to transport patients in emergencies. She reassured citizens that the health services are fully prepared and officials have been ordered to maintain 24-hour contact with senior authorities.

Medical Superintendent of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Dr. Karamjit Singh, added that the hospital has ensured an uninterrupted supply of medicines, blood oxygen facilities, and other essential arrangements. Senior doctors have been specifically instructed to monitor flood-affected patients personally.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rajiv Devgan, Principal Director of Government Medical College, stressed that all hospitals under the college’s administration have been ordered to keep senior officers available round the clock. Emergency stocks, including medicines and testing facilities, are fully in place to handle any situation.

At the District Civil Hospital, Dr. Swaranjit Dhawan, Senior Medical Officer, confirmed that special teams of doctors and staff have been formed for morning, afternoon, and evening duties. Adequate medicines, blood supply, and OPD preparedness have been ensured, with clear instructions to treat flood-hit patients on priority.

With government hospitals on full alert and doctors working round the clock, Punjab’s health system is bracing itself to mitigate the impact of floods and ensure timely treatment to those in need.
