In a post shared on social media, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab unit emphasized the government’s resolve to tackle drug abuse through positive engagement. Promoting sports is seen as a key strategy to not only keep the youth physically active but a

lso mentally strong and socially responsible.

The Mann government has been organizing regular sports tournaments, upgrading stadiums, and setting up new sports infrastructure in villages and towns. Special focus is being given to traditional Punjabi sports like kabaddi, wrestling, and athletics, alongside promoting modern sports to ensure wide participation.

Officials said the administration is committed to identifying young talent at the grassroots level and providing them with professional training and support. The objective is to create a generation that chooses the sports field over the path of addiction.

The broader campaign also includes awareness drives in schools and colleges, counseling sessions, and collaborations with sportspersons and influencers who can inspire the youth to lead healthier lives.

Punjab, which has long battled the menace of drugs, is witnessing a new wave of hope as sports and fitness are being made central to youth policies. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has repeatedly stated that eradicating drugs and nurturing Punjab’s youth into national and international champions is a top priority of his government.
