Punjab has recorded its highest-ever monthly Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection, clocking ₹2,654 crore in April 2025. This marks a significant 19.77% increase over April 2024 and a massive 30.93% jump compared to March 2025, according to figures shared by the state government.
Punjab Achieves Record GST Collection of ₹2,654 Crore in April 2025
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), celebrating the achievement, attributed the surge to a combination of economic revival and efficient governance.
AAP Punjab, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), wrote:
“RECORD-BREAKING GST COLLECTION! Punjab clocks its HIGHEST-EVER monthly GST — ₹2,654 Cr in April 2025! The economy is surging ahead under the visionary leadership of CM @BhagwantMann Ji & @ArvindKejriwal Ji!”
Officials credit the growth to tighter enforcement, digitized tax compliance, and pro-industry reforms introduced under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Sources in the finance department said sectors such as manufacturing, retail, and services have shown healthy upticks, signaling broader economic momentum across the state.
Economists note that such GST growth reflects rising consumption and improved tax administration. The AAP government has also taken initiatives to curb evasion, making revenue collection more efficient.
With the new financial year off to a strong start, Punjab’s economic outlook appears promising, and the government is hopeful of sustaining the trend through continued reforms and transparency-driven measures.
