In a groundbreaking initiative under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab has become the first state in India to introduce an online grievance redressal system exclusively for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). This innovative platform aims to provide swift and effective resolutions to complaints from overseas residents, reflecting the Punjab government’s commitment to facilitating its diaspora.

Key Features of the Initiative

NRIs can now conveniently register their grievances online, ensuring faster processing and action. To strengthen direct engagement, the government has launched a monthly "Online NRI Milni," where NRIs can interact with officials to address their concerns. Most issues are resolved during these virtual meetings, while unresolved cases are delegated to district authorities for prompt attention.

The initiative has been particularly impactful in addressing matters related to the Revenue and Police Departments, which handle the majority of complaints. By leveraging digital tools, the state has streamlined the resolution process, reducing delays and ensuring transparency.

A Step Towards Inclusive Governance

This initiative underscores the Punjab government’s dedication to creating a direct and efficient communication channel with the overseas Punjabi community. Speaking on the development, CM Bhagwant Mann emphasized, "Our aim is to address the grievances of NRIs quickly and concretely. This system ensures their voices are heard and acted upon without unnecessary delays."

With this move, Punjab has set a precedent for other states to follow, showcasing how technology can bridge gaps between governments and their diaspora. The initiative not only addresses immediate concerns but also strengthens ties between Punjab and its global community.

By prioritizing transparency and efficiency, Punjab is paving the way for a more inclusive and responsive governance model, ensuring that its diaspora remains connected and supported.
