In a major step towards supporting low-income families, the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Social Justice Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, has disbursed ₹30.35 crore under the Ashirwad Scheme. This initiative benefits 5,951 Scheduled Caste (SC) families, providing financial aid for their daughters' marriages.
Financial Aid for Daughters’ Marriages
Under the Ashirwad Scheme, the Punjab government offers financial assistance of ₹51,000 to low-income families for the marriage of their daughters. This program aims to reduce financial burdens and ensure dignity and respect for the families during weddings. The funds are transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts to maintain transparency and eliminate middlemen.
Promoting Economic Stability
The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader commitment to improving the living standards of every section of society. By offering targeted support to SC families, the program fosters economic stability and empowers communities to build a better future.
Transparent Governance
The direct bank transfers underline the government’s focus on transparent and efficient governance. This ensures that the benefits reach the intended recipients without any delays or leakages, building trust among the beneficiaries and strengthening the welfare system.
The Punjab government remains dedicated to addressing social inequalities and providing financial assistance to marginalized communities. The Ashirwad Scheme reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift underprivileged families and create a more inclusive society.
By prioritizing initiatives like the Ashirwad Scheme, the Punjab government continues to empower lives and bring about meaningful change, one family at a time.
