Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday inaugurated a newly upgraded government school in the Sunam constituency, marking a significant step in the state’s ongoing education reforms. The event is part of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) larger campaign titled ‘Padhta Punjab, Badalta Punjab’, which aims to strengthen and modernize the public education system in the state.

Speaking to the media during the event, AAP Punjab State President Aman Arora said, “It is a proud moment for the entire Punjab. Under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, the government has consistently prioritized education. That promise is now being fulfilled with visible action on the ground.” He added that nearly 90% of Punjab’s government schools are currently being upgraded as part of the initiative.

‘Sikhya Kranti’ Underway in Punjab

Arora also described the transformation as the beginning of a new chapter in the state's Sikhya Kranti (education revolution). The upgraded schools are being equipped with modern infrastructure, better classroom environments, and improved facilities aimed at enhancing both teaching and learning experiences. The government’s focus, he said, is on providing quality education that empowers the youth of Punjab and shapes a progressive society.

School of Eminence Inaugurated in Nawanshahr

In a parallel development, a newly built School of Eminence was inaugurated in Nawanshahr, district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. The inauguration was carried out by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia. AAP Punjab shared striking visuals of the school on social media, highlighting its advanced facilities.

The school features ultra-modern classrooms, well-equipped science laboratories, a multipurpose hall, transport facilities, lifts, and other modern amenities. AAP Punjab described the school as a true tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, symbolizing the government’s vision for a future-ready Punjab built on the foundation of strong public education.

Public Response and Government Vision

The developments have been widely appreciated by teachers, parents, and educationists across the state. Many see it as a long-overdue transformation of the government school system. The Mann-led government continues to stress that education remains one of its top priorities, and that real change begins with investment in children’s futures.

With consistent efforts and visible infrastructure improvements, the Punjab government is now working toward building an education system that matches global standards and offers equal opportunities to every student, regardless of background.
