Punjab News: To discourage stubble burning, Bhogpur Co-Operative Sugar Mill has initiated a project to produce 10 MW of electricity per hour by using 400 metric tons of paddy stubble daily. They are purchasing the stubble from farmers for Rs 180 to Rs 250 per quintal.

The Deputy Commissioner has set a target to purchase 40,000 MT of paddy stubble in the current season and 10,000 MT of cane trash, using the paddy stubble for seven months and cane trash for five months.
