The incident occurred on March 24 when the girl's family fell severely ill after consuming a chocolate cake ordered online from a bakery in Patiala to celebrate her birthday.

Punjab News: Officials revealed on Monday that the cake believed to be connected to the tragic death of a 10-year-old girl in Punjab was baked with a significant concentration of artificial sweetener. The incident occurred on March 24 when the girl’s family fell severely ill after consuming a chocolate cake ordered online from a bakery in Patiala to celebrate her birthday.

Cake Linked to 10-Year-Old Girl’s Death Found to Contain High Levels of Artificial Sweetener

According to District Health Officer Dr. Vijay Jindal, a sample of the cake was collected for testing, and the results indicated the presence of a high amount of saccharine, a synthetic compound commonly used as a sweetener. While saccharine is typically used in small quantities in food and beverages, elevated levels can lead to a rapid increase in blood glucose levels, posing health risks.

Authorities stated that appropriate action will be taken against the bakery responsible for the tainted cake

Authorities stated that appropriate action will be taken against the bakery responsible for the tainted cake, and a fine may be imposed. Additionally, a First Information Report (FIR) has already been lodged against the owner of the bakery.

A heartbreaking video circulated widely on social media depicts the young girl, named Manvi, joyously cutting the cake and celebrating with her family just hours before her untimely demise.

Shortly after the celebration, the entire family fell ill, including Manvi’s younger sister. Symptoms included vomiting, dryness in the mouth, and a sensation of thirst, as reported by the girl’s grandfather.

Following her collapse, Manvi was urgently taken to a hospital where she received oxygen support. Tragically, she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The grieving family alleged that the chocolate cake purchased from ‘Cake Kanha’ contained poisonous substances, sparking concerns and calls for swift action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
