Bhagwant Mann assessed crop and property damage, interacted with farmers, and promised full compensation to all affected families.

Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday personally visited flood-affected areas of the state to take stock of the situation and assess the damage caused by heavy rains and the release of water from dams. This marks the first direct visit of the Chief Minister to villages hit by the floods, following continuous ground-level monitoring by teams of Cabinet ministers over the past few days.

CM Bhagwant Mann Assures Full Compensation to Flood-Hit Villages

Earlier in the day, CM Mann reviewed detailed reports submitted by the district administration and the Water Resources Department regarding the flood situation. Senior officials briefed him on the losses suffered by farmers, villagers, and local communities. The Chief Minister then traveled to Baupur Jadid village in Kapurthala district, where he interacted with local residents and observed crop damage firsthand. Standing on a bridge, he closely inspected the extent of destruction to fields and homes. He also conducted an aerial survey from Makhu to Harike Pattan, covering large stretches of submerged land.

Bhagwant Mann assured people that the Punjab government will provide adequate compensation for all losses caused by the floods

During his visit, Bhagwant Mann assured people that the Punjab government will provide adequate compensation for all losses caused by the floods. He emphasized that not just crops, but homes, livelihoods, and other damages would also be covered. The Chief Minister further underlined that the state will explore alternative long-term measures to prevent such disasters in the future.

Officials reported that the release of excess water from Pong Dam and Sutlej Dam led to flooding across six districts in Punjab. In Kapurthala, many families were forced to vacate their homes, while nearly one lakh acres of standing crops have been damaged, significantly impacting farmers. The Chief Minister acknowledged these concerns and directed urgent relief operations.

Mann highlighted that continuous rainfall in neighboring hill states has worsened Punjab’s flood situation, but reassured citizens that the state government is leaving no stone unturned in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. He said Cabinet ministers are leading relief operations in various districts, while he personally monitors daily updates.

In his message, CM Mann reassured the people: “The government will ensure complete compensation for every penny of loss. No affected family will be left unsupported.”
