Despite government orders to declare holidays due to floods, the principal allegedly kept nearly 400 children trapped inside the school, putting their safety at risk.

CM Bhagwant Mann Govt Takes Strict Action Against Principal Over Negligence in Children’s Safety During Floods

According to official sources, the state government had already issued orders announcing school holidays in view of rising floodwaters. However, the principal of the Navodaya School allegedly ignored these instructions and continued to keep students in the school premises. As floodwaters surrounded the campus, children were put in danger, leading to panic among parents and locals.

In response, the Mann government has issued a ‘show-cause notice’ to the principal, demanding an explanation for the negligence. Officials confirmed that this action is part of the government’s strong stance on enforcing safety protocols, particularly in schools where children’s lives are involved.

Ensuring Accountability in Schools

The Punjab government emphasized that no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to the safety of children. CM Bhagwant Mann has directed education authorities to strictly monitor compliance with government orders, especially during natural calamities like floods.

This move is seen as a warning to all educational institutions across Punjab to follow safety guidelines without fail. By holding school authorities accountable, the Mann-led government aims to build trust among parents and ensure that such lapses are not repeated in the future.

The state is already battling flood challenges, and measures are being taken to secure affected areas, provide relief materials, and safeguard public life. Within this, the safety of schoolchildren remains a top priority for the administration.
