According to officials, the establishment of this centralised headquarters will lead to an annual saving of ₹84 lakh currently spent on office rent for various jail department branches. The upcoming facility will streamline administrative functions under one roof, marking a significant step toward modernization in Punjab’s correctional infrastructure.

Notably, the new headquarters will also feature a basement parking facility with the capacity to accommodate 115 cars, ensuring convenience for staff and visitors alike.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been actively pushing infrastructure and governance reforms across Punjab, and the construction of this headquarters is seen as a step toward enhancing efficiency and reducing long-term costs in the state administration.

The ambitious project is set to be developed at a cost of ₹35 crore and will significantly improve administrative efficiency. With this move, the state will save around ₹84 lakh annually that was previously spent on renting various office spaces for jail department operations.

The headquarters will also include a basement parking facility with a capacity for 115 cars, offering improved convenience for employees and visitors.

This initiative is part of the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government’s broader efforts to enhance public infrastructure while ensuring financial prudence and long-term governance reform.
