Punjab News: Punjab’s relentless campaign against drug trafficking continues to gather momentum, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government taking strict action against those profiting from the drug trade. On Wednesday, the Tarn Taran police demolished a house worth lakhs belonging to a notorious mother-son duo, both of whom are currently lodged in jail.

According to SSP Deepak Paharik, the demolition was carried out in Chola Sahib, Tarn Taran, as part of the campaign initiated by Punjab’s DGP Gaurav Yadav. The accused, identified as Sukhchain Singh alias Sonu and his mother Dharm Kaur, have multiple cases registered against them under the NDPS Act. Police records confirm that nearly a dozen drug trafficking cases are pending against them, while Sukhchain Singh’s wife also faces three separate cases.

Authorities confirmed that the demolished house was constructed through illegal earnings from the drug trade, making it subject to confiscation and destruction under the ongoing crackdown.

This is not an isolated action — similar demolitions of drug traffickers’ properties worth crores have already been carried out across Punjab in recent months. The aim, police said, is to ensure that criminals lose both their wealth and influence, thereby discouraging others from indulging in drug peddling.

The move drew a positive response from the community. Villagers gathered at the spot and celebrated the police action by distributing sweets, expressing relief that strong steps are finally being taken against those spreading the menace of drugs in their area.

The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has repeatedly assured citizens that the fight against narcotics will continue at full force. Mann has emphasized that no drug trafficker, regardless of influence or wealth, will be spared, and their ill-gotten assets will be destroyed.

With strong support from law enforcement and public backing, Punjab’s ‘War on Drugs’ is sending a clear message — illegal properties and criminal networks will not be allowed to thrive.
