Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a significant step toward public safety with the launch of the first phase of the Advanced City Traffic Management System. Taking to social media, he highlighted the importance of this initiative in improving traffic regulation and urban mobility.

“A crucial step for public safety! The first phase of the state-of-the-art City Traffic Management System was inaugurated live from Sohana Police Station, Mohali,” Mann tweeted.

Technology-Driven Traffic Management

The City Traffic Management System is expected to bring a tech-driven approach to handling traffic in Punjab. By integrating modern surveillance, AI-based monitoring, and automated traffic signals, the system aims to reduce congestion, enforce road safety regulations, and streamline urban transport.

Authorities have stated that this system will help identify traffic violations, enhance real-time monitoring, and ensure smoother traffic flow in cities. With a focus on smart policing, the initiative is also expected to improve law enforcement response times and curb reckless driving incidents.

More Phases to Follow

The first phase of the project has been implemented in Mohali, with plans to extend it to other major cities across Punjab. Officials believe that once fully operational, the system will significantly enhance road discipline and reduce accidents.

The Punjab government has been actively working on smart infrastructure projects, and the launch of this traffic management system marks a major milestone in modernizing urban governance. As the initiative progresses, it is expected to revolutionize the way traffic is monitored and managed across the state.
