A courageous Punjab Police constable, Amritpal Singh, lost his life in a line of duty encounter with gangsters in Hoshiarpur district’s Mukerian subdivision on Sunday.
Raid Turns Deadly
Constable Amritpal Singh, a member of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), was part of a team that raided the residence of Sukhwinder Singh in Mansoorpur village, located approximately 66 kilometers from Hoshiarpur.
As reported by Hoshiarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Lamba, the team entered the house when the suspect opened fire. Constable Singh was unfortunately struck by a bullet in the chest.
Constable Succumbs to Injuries
The remaining officers on the team escaped unharmed; however, Sukhwinder Singh managed to flee the scene. Constable Singh was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Mukerian for initial treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to a private hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his wounds.
Manhunt Underway for Suspect
Police authorities are actively searching for Sukhwinder Singh and conducting raids on suspected hideouts. Efforts to apprehend the fugitive are ongoing.
