Punjab’s much-publicized “Shiksha Kranti” (Education Revolution) under the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government is beginning to show measurable impact. Inspired by Delhi’s successful education reforms, Punjab is investing heavily in transforming its public education system through infrastructure upgrades, teacher empowerment, and focused student coaching programs.

The state’s flagship “Sikhya Kranti” initiative, launched in April 2025 with a budget of ₹2,000 crore, aims to revamp over 12,000 government schools across the state. The campaign has brought with it a series of visible changes, from smart classrooms to sports facilities, drawing national attention.

Schools of Eminence: Setting New Standards

One of the key highlights is the rollout of Schools of Eminence (SoE) — modeled on Delhi’s elite government schools. So far:

118 schools have been selected under the scheme.

14 SoEs have been inaugurated; 26 more are nearing completion.

Facilities include science labs, libraries, digital smart boards, and in a first, a government school with a swimming pool in Ludhiana's Indrapuri area.

Infrastructure Push Across the State

The Punjab government has undertaken a sweeping improvement in school infrastructure:

6,200+ classrooms renovated or newly constructed.

17,000 schools connected with Wi-Fi.

1.16 lakh dual desks and over 10,000 toilets distributed.

13,000 schools have received new or improved playgrounds.

Solar panels installed in over 4,000 schools.

Boundary walls constructed in hundreds of previously unsecured campuses.

Teacher Training and Recruitment Drive

Punjab has placed strong emphasis on improving teacher quality and motivation:

10,000+ teachers recruited in the past year.

12,316 contractual teachers regularized.

Over 300 teachers and principals have been sent for training abroad, including Singapore, Finland, and prestigious Indian institutions like IIM Ahmedabad.

Competitive Exam Coaching Shows Early Results

To level the playing field for government school students in competitive exams, the SATHEE and PACE programs were launched in collaboration with IIT Kanpur:

JEE Main qualifiers rose from 49 to 85 students in 2025.

NEET qualifiers increased from 335 to 497.

44 students cleared JEE Advanced, a milestone for Punjab’s government schools.
