Punjab News: The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has taken a significant step toward enhancing early childhood care and education. Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, in a press conference, shared important details about the state’s initiative to prioritize the welfare of children under six years of age.

Key Developments in Anganwadi Centers

Establishment of 1,419 New Centers: The government plans to set up 1,419 new Anganwadi centers across the state to improve access to early childhood services.

Upgradation of Existing Centers: To ensure better facilities, a grant of ₹2 lakh per center has been allocated for upgrading existing Anganwadi centers. This will help improve infrastructure, provide better learning environments, and enhance the overall quality of services.

Focus on Early Childhood Development

This initiative aligns with the government's vision of focusing on the foundational years of a child’s development. The new and upgraded centers aim to offer improved nutrition, health services, and pre-school education to children, contributing to their holistic growth.

Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized the Mann government’s commitment to strengthening the Anganwadi system, which plays a crucial role in providing a nurturing environment for children, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

A Step Toward Better Child Welfare

With this initiative, the Punjab government is setting a precedent for prioritizing early childhood development, ensuring that children in the state receive the care and opportunities they deserve. These measures are expected to significantly impact child health, nutrition, and education outcomes in the years to come.
